Each position will indicate the minimum educational requirements. University of Mount Olive promotes active learning modes, experiential learning, and student engagement. All positions start on August 1, 2016.Teaching responsibilities will include four classes in fall and spring semester under a nine-month contract (12 load hours per semester).

 

 

Tillman School of Business

 

Accounting

The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business (TSB) invites applications for a full-time 9-month, faculty position in Accounting to begin August 1, 2016. The Accounting program is based at the main campus in Mount Olive, NC with courses offered at seven regional campuses and in the online MBA program.

This position is responsible for teaching in both the traditional and non-traditional (adult student) programs supplemented with online activities. Additional expectations include maintaining office hours, academic advising, participating in ACBSP program assessment and related course development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  •  Master of Accounting or Master of Science in Accounting in addition to a CPA license     
  •  Preferred – Ph.D. or DBA in accounting or related field
  • Industry/professional experience strongly preferred.

Allied Faculty

The Tillman School of Business (TSB) at the University of Mount Olive invites applications for contracted allied faculty positions teaching in multiple areas of the TSB, two to six classes per year.

The individuals hired for these positions shall have qualifications related to (and an interest in) one of the TSB undergraduate or graduate level programs to include; Accounting, Agribusiness, Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing and the Management of Computer Information Systems.

Teaching assignments will typically include evening classes at one or more of the regional campuses across eastern North Carolina or online relying on Moodle as the LMS. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of courses and advising.

The University of Mount Olive employs Full-time Faculty, primarily based at the main campus at Mount Olive, Allied Faculty based across the region, and Adjunct Faculty who teach individual courses on an as needed basis, also located across the region. Allied faculty are contracted for services on an annual basis with a defined course load and other duties as assigned depending on the needs of the school and the availability/capability of the faculty. Allied faculty are considered members of the faculty and can pursue promotion in rank based on the guidelines found in the faculty handbook.

The anticipated start date is August 2016 or January 2017.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in a related field is preferred 
  • Master's degree in a related field will be considered with current enrollment and demonstrated progress to complete a terminal degree 
  • Master’s degree in a related field with demonstrated professional success in the related field

 Experience:

  • Classroom and online teaching experience is required 
  • Experience teaching adult students in a condensed format is preferred
  • Industry/professional experience is preferred

Agriculture

The Division of Agriculture at University of Mount Olive has a vacancy for a faculty position in the area of plant science.  Position will be full-time, 9-month beginning August 2016. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to the undergraduate mission of the agriculture division and university. Teaching responsibilities will include preparation and teaching of lower and upper-level courses in plant sciences to include horticulture and crop science. The candidate would also participate in division activities, collegiate club activities, student farm development and other facility enhancement projects. Psychology

The Department of Psychology at University of Mount Olive seeks a collaborative and enthusiastic candidate to join our faculty.  Position will be full-time, 9-months beginning August 2016. The successful applicant will teach four undergraduate courses per semester (traditional, non-traditional, and online), participate actively in service to the University, and mentor undergraduate research.  Applicants should be interested and qualified to teach Introductory Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Research Methods.  Preference given to applicants able to teach one or more of the following: Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Neuroscience, or a specialty topic in area of expertise. Assistant Director of Alumni Relations

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a full-time Assistant Director of Alumni Relations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build positive and productive relationships with University constituencies
  •  Establish and maintain regular print and electronic communication with alumni concerning alumni activities
  • Assist in devise a comprehensive alumni relations program that draws alumni closer to the institution and builds affinity in an effort to maximize gift support and alumni involvement
  • Assist in creating a comprehensive alumni special events plan and calendar that will serve as the foundation piece for office planning and production
  • Assist in engaging current students to become engaged future alumni
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Alumni Relations on various other projects and events
  • Assist the Director in increasing support from alumni; routinely identifies alumni prospects for gifts; communicates development-related activities via written contact reports filed in Raiser's Edge and periodic attendance at prospect management meetings

The University of Mount Olive at Mount Olive at Jacksonville location has an immediate opening for a Support Services Coordinator.

Director of Jacksonville location

The University of Mount Olive is currently seeking an experienced Director for our Jacksonville location.  The successful candidate will have prior experience implementing operational strategy and budget management at the college level with a focus on creativity and innovation to develop new and unique ways to improve operations and opportunities for the location. The Director will assume responsibility for coordinating support and administrative services for location students and functional oversight of the facility operations. These include, but are not limited to: recruitment and enrollment, academic advising, financial aid, and student accounts. The Director will also work closely with academic department chairs and deans to create academic schedules and program offerings. The Director will supervise administrative staff by providing direction, input, and feedback and liaise with other managers to ensure effective and efficient program delivery. The Director will work collaboratively with the marketing and communication department to deliver print and electronic marketing materials that enhance the reputation and effectiveness of the college. In addition, the Director will work collaboratively to build strong relationships and partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and civic groups.  The Director of the New Bern location will work closely with all functional department leaders and will report to the Dean of Extended Education.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree and successful experience leading a complex unit. Must possess excellent organizational skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work productively with all members of the college and the local community. 3-5 years of direct experience is preferred.

Financial Aid Counselor

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a Financial Aid Counselor. This position reports to the director of financial aid. Financial Aid Counselors are members of the enrollment team and must be able to work with admissions representatives, business office personnel and the registrar's office in order to maximize enrollment. Financial Aid Counselors must be knowledgeable of federal, state and institutional aid regulations and apply them to each individual student's eligibility. These employees assist current and prospective students with filing their free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) and completion of loan applications, complete verification audits, and meet often with students to help them with other financial concerns.

Responsibilities include:

  •  Assist students in using databases to explore      careers and post-graduate education
  • Utilize social media for promoting career services

  • Conducts mock interviews with students and alumni

Responsibilities Include:

  •  Recruiting prospective students through college events, individual and group information meetings with businesses, medical facilities, professional organizations, childcare centers, etc.

Facilities Technician

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a Facilities Technician.

Successful candidate will be required to maintain all maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.  This will include electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.  At least 3 years of experience and CFR certification is preferred. Candidate must possess a valid cell phone and driver’s license.

Must have the ability lift at least 50lbs. Must be detailed oriented.  Individual must have neat appearance and excellent people skills. Must be willing to work flexible hours to include weekends. Bus Driver
