Each position will indicate the minimum educational requirements. University of Mount Olive promotes active learning modes, experiential learning, and student engagement. Tillman School of Business

 

Accounting

The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business (TSB) invites applications for a full-time 9-month, faculty position in Accounting to begin August 1, 2016. The Accounting program is based at the main campus in Mount Olive, NC with courses offered at seven regional campuses and in the online MBA program.

This position is responsible for teaching in both the traditional and non-traditional (adult student) programs supplemented with online activities. Additional expectations include maintaining office hours, academic advising, participating in ACBSP program assessment and related course development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  •  Master of Accounting or Master of Science in Accounting in addition to a CPA license     
  •  Preferred – Ph.D. or DBA in accounting or related field
  • Industry/professional experience strongly preferred.

Allied Faculty

The Tillman School of Business (TSB) at the University of Mount Olive invites applications for contracted allied faculty positions teaching in multiple areas of the TSB, two to six classes per year.

The individuals hired for these positions shall have qualifications related to (and an interest in) one of the TSB undergraduate or graduate level programs to include; Accounting, Agribusiness, Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing and the Management of Computer Information Systems.

Teaching assignments will typically include evening classes at one or more of the regional campuses across eastern North Carolina or online relying on Moodle as the LMS. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of courses and advising.

The University of Mount Olive employs Full-time Faculty, primarily based at the main campus at Mount Olive, Allied Faculty based across the region, and Adjunct Faculty who teach individual courses on an as needed basis, also located across the region. Allied faculty are contracted for services on an annual basis with a defined course load and other duties as assigned depending on the needs of the school and the availability/capability of the faculty. Allied faculty are considered members of the faculty and can pursue promotion in rank based on the guidelines found in the faculty handbook.

The anticipated start date is August 2016 or January 2017.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in a related field is preferred 
  • Master's degree in a related field will be considered with current enrollment and demonstrated progress to complete a terminal degree 
  • Master’s degree in a related field with demonstrated professional success in the related field

  • Classroom and online teaching experience is required 
  • Experience teaching adult students in a condensed format is preferred

Psychology

The Department of Psychology at University of Mount Olive seeks a collaborative and enthusiastic candidate to join our faculty.  Position will be full-time, 9-months beginning January 2017 and August 2017. The successful applicant will teach four undergraduate courses per semester (traditional, non-traditional, and online), participate actively in service to the University, and mentor undergraduate research.  Applicants should be interested and qualified to teach Introductory Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Research Methods.  Preference given to applicants able to teach one or more of the following: Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Neuroscience, or a specialty topic in area of expertise. Choral Director

The Music department seeks a Choral Director. Position will be full-time, 9 months beginning August 2017. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Conducts Concert Choir and Chamber Choir
  •  Acts as principal voice teacher
  • Programs choral ensemble performances for events on and off campus
  • Recruits choral performers to the institution
  • Plans regional choir tours and develops strategies for the support of national tours
  • Engages in service and scholarship

Minimum Qualifications:

  •  Minimum of a Master’s degree in Music
  • Proven experience in choral conducting and teaching private voice lessons
  • Strong pedagogical skills in ensemble directorship and voice instruction

Staff & Administrative Positions

Director of Housing

The University of Mount Olive has an opening for a Director of Housing. This is a full time, twelve month live-in position that will be responsible for managing the day to day housing operations for the university. In addition, they will manage all housing assignments, maintaining the housing software system and coordinating facility plans. This position will also oversee the housing selection process and RA selection process. The director will provide leadership for the overall campus living and learning experience and manage all related tasks associated with maintaining a residential community.

The person in this position will work closely with two other live-in professionals to provide a comprehensive residential programming on campus. This position will manage a residential area of 3 residence halls (approximately 200 students) and supervise 5 to 8 resident assistants. Responsibilities will include staff training, conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and the implementation of residence hall programming designed to complement the goals of the residence life program and mission of the University. This live in position will require flexible hours, a team building attitude and a sincere desire to work with students in a religiously affiliated private liberal arts university environment. This person will serve on a three person on-call rotation for campus emergencies.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in related field required. Supervisory experience and extensive experience in residential living, either as a graduate student or full time employee are required. Preference will be given to candidates with 2-3 years post graduate work experience.

Director of Student Conduct

The University of Mount Olive has an opening for a Director of Student Conduct. This is a full time, twelve month position that will be responsible for managing the university’s student conduct process. This position will serve as the student conduct administrator ensuring compliance with all university policies and processes as well as the protection of student responsibilities and rights. This administrator will oversee the adjudication of all conduct hearings, processes, and notifications. This component of the position will require a professional that is detail oriented and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

In addition to the student conduct component, this administrator will oversee a residential area of two residence halls (approximately 200 students) and supervise five to eight resident assistants. Responsibilities will include staff training, conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and the implementation of residence hall programming designed to complement the goals of the residence life program and mission of the university. This live in position will require flexible hours, a team building attitude and a sincere desire to work with students in a religiously affiliated private liberal arts college environment.  This position will serve as the administrator for two residential facilities on campus. This position will work closely with two other assistant director professionals to coordinate all housing and residence life functions.

Director of Academic Logistics

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a Director of Academic Logistics. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Course Scheduling: Assimilate student-needs data, in conjunction with approved course sequencing, to recommend traditional seated course offerings. Collaborate with Department Chairs and location directors to assist in scheduling and staffing courses subject to dean approval.  
  • Standardized Syllabi: Maintain Moodle repository of standardized course syllabi. Work with Department Chairs to annually update syllabi. 
  • Instructor Resources: Post instructor resources and manage instructor discussion forums within TSB Faculty Resources in Moodle.
  • Textbooks: Collaborate with full-time faculty and bookstore on annual textbook review. 
  • Articulation Agreements: Update as curricula change.
  • Monitor compliance with ACBSP and other accreditation agencies as needed
  • Prepare reports and manage documentation as outlined in official ACBSP guidelines
  • Administer routine survey instruments, such as those relating to student satisfaction, alumni achievement, faculty development, etc
  • Make all required ACBSP documentation publicly available on the TSB UMO website
  • In coordination with the Office of Institutional Research and Planning, provide information necessary for SACSCOC reporting
  • Organize and facilitate annual adjunct valuation process pursuant to accreditation guidelines
  • Plan and organize semiannual adjunct training workshops
  • Help familiarize new adjuncts with course syllabi, Moodle administration, instructor resources, etc
  • Monitor and record the TSB/UMO training activities such as Moodle, Zoom and other institutional specific training needed for all adjuncts
  • Maintain a TSB webpage for adjuncts with necessary and requested faculty resources
  • Maintain a priority list of adjuncts per course offered in TSB
  • Coordinate full-time teaching assignments

  • Serve as the liaison between students, faculty, and academic support services
  • Maintain the database and attendance records necessary to qualify students for the Tillman Professional distinction
  • Maintain a database of internships for students who are interested
  • Coordinating with the Office of Alumni Affairs, maintain a database of TSB alumni and updated contact information, as much as possible

Admissions Representative

University of Mount Olive at   Research Triangle Park (RTP) location has an immediate opening for an Admissions Representative.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Recruiting prospective students through college events, individual and group information meetings with businesses, medical facilities, professional organizations, childcare centers, etc.
  • Conducting interviews with all prospective students through one on one information sessions

Administrative Assistant

The University of Mount of Olive has an immediate opening for a full –time Administrative Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Take notes during meetings; schedule appointments, meetings, and interviews; work with other offices to resolve clerical problems. This would also include sending reminders for actionable items
  • Direct and supervise student employees in basic office functions; mail, copying, answering the phones, etc.
  • Coordinate TSB events, including room reservations, flowers, guest lists, invitations, microphones, video, etc.

Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for an Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties: 

  •  Provide general administrative support to the office of Academic Affairs
  • Accountable for all faculty files and faculty database
  • Scan, mark up, and organize faculty and adjunct files for accreditation review
  • Maintain adjunct faculty list/data base
  • Work collaboratively with office of Human Resources for issuing adjunct faculty contracts
  • Work closely with the office of Institutional Planning and Support, and the SACS-COC  liaison, as well as department chairs and deans
  • Manage master class schedule and communicate all approved changes to the Registrar’s Office
  • Ensure that all instructors are properly credentialed for classes before adding the staffing to the University Enterprise Resource Planning System

Bus Driver

Accounting Assistant

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a part – time Accounting Assistant.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Accounting for grants, coordinate preparation of grant reports and reconciliation of grant activity between PI and accounting records 
  • Reconciliation of gifts within accounting software to records received from IA and preparation of journal entries, schedule of items not recorded within IA
  • Fixed asset recordkeeping including identification of potential fixed assets via review of purchasing transactions and related invoices, run depreciation reports and reconcile to general ledger
  • Update prepaid expense schedule and prepare journal entries as needed
  • Investment account reconciliations and related journal entries to include sales, unrealized gains, preparation of Form 8283 for stock gifts
  • Prepare journal entries to record foundation activity
  • Gather support for amounts payable to unrestricted account based on activity within temporarily restricted due to account and reconcile amounts due between funds
  • Assist with endowment recordkeeping

 Support Services Coordinator/Test Administrator

 The University of Mount Olive at the Goldsboro location (Seymour Johnson Air Base) has an immediate opening for a part –time Support Services Coordinator / Test Administrator. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Receive and provide secure storage of testing materials, supplies, and Test Administrator’s Handbook from Education Testing Service (ETS)
  • Complete all specified training and certification requirements.
  • Perform the following in compliance with procedures described in the Test Administrator’s Handbook:
    • Schedule all test takers in a timely fashion
    • Ensure all systems are functional and report any issues involving security, service, or technology infrastructure to the appropriate individual(s).
    • Check in and validate testing candidates
    • Administer and monitor CLEP/DSST testing events
    • Collect and transmit any required fees as appropriate
    • Create, maintain, and distribute an examination log of all testing activity
    • Report any irregularities with examination deliveries
  • Manages the administrative and clerical functions of the office as assigned.
  • Directs all in-person inquiries and phone calls to the appropriate office or staff member.
  • Assists UMO staff with admissions data entry, ensuring accuracy to the best of his or her ability.
  • Maintains all master documents, copies and assembles documents as directed for use in marketing, recruiting, and enrolling students or other areas as deemed appropriate by the location Director
  • Generates office correspondence to prospective and current students, including but not limited to daily PowerCampus mail merges, mass mailings and exit and entrance counseling letters as needed (if appropriate).
  • Manages receipt of all mail (including transcripts) and posts all documents to the appropriate system.
  • Assists students, instructors and staff members with technology issues and timely submits support tickets to IT as necessary to maintain all technology in good working order
  • Runs, prints, loads, and distributes ISIR files and correction files on a regular schedule (if appropriate).
  • Maintains and posts location course list schedules as needed (if appropriate).
  • Orders and maintains office and cleaning supplies and reports all building and maintenance issues to landlord or appropriate maintenance personnel
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Director as required to meet the needs and growth of the position.
