Tillman School of Business

Finance

The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business (TSB) invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, Finance Faculty to begin August 1, 2016. The Tillman School of Business (TSB) undergraduate programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Finance is one of several areas that compose the business core in TSB. Finance courses are taught online and at the main campus in Mount Olive, NC with courses offered at seven regional campuses, as well as in the MBA program.

This position is responsible for teaching in both the traditional and non-traditional (adult student) programs supplemented with online activities. Additional expectations include maintaining office hours for tutoring and academic advising, as well as participating in program assessment and related course development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in finance or related field with 18 graduate credits in Finance. Applicants who are ABD with a fixed dissertation defense date on or before May 15, 2017 will also be considered. Degree(s) must be from regionally accredited institution(s)

Analytics

The University of Mount Olive invites applications for a full-time, non-tenured faculty position teaching in the area of Analytics.

The individual hired for this position should have qualifications related to (and an interest in) big data topics, such as predictive modeling, and experience or interest in teaching business statistics courses. Teaching assignments will typically include traditional classes in basic and advanced analytics, but evening and online classes may also be assigned. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of courses in business analytics and enhance the integration of analytics education within existing programs. Marketing

Accounting

Healthcare Management

The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business (TSB) invites applications for two 9-month, full-time, Healthcare Management (HCM) Faculty to begin August 1, 2016. The HCM program is recognized by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The program has approximately 1000 graduates to date and includes more than 300 currently enrolled students. The HCM program is based at the main campus in Mount Olive, NC with courses offered at seven regional campuses. A hybrid graduate certificate in healthcare management (running in parallel with the online MBA program) is planned for 2017.

This position is responsible for teaching in both the traditional and non-traditional (adult student) programs supplemented with online activities. Additional expectations include maintaining office hours, academic advising, participating in AUPHA as well as ACBSP program assessment and related course development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Healthcare Information Management, Healthcare Education, Public Health, Health Sciences, or a related field from a regionally accredited college/university, or, Master’s degree with current enrollment and demonstrated progress to complete a doctoral degree in one of those fields of study

Agribusiness

The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business, invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, faculty position in Agribusiness to begin August 2016. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to the mission of Agribusiness and the University in both traditional and nontraditional settings.

This position responsibilities will include preparation and teaching of upper-level courses in agribusiness to include Agribusiness Farm Management, Rural Development/Entrepreneurship, Agricultural Policy, and Agricultural Finance. North Carolina is the third most diverse agricultural state in the nation.

Allied Faculty

The Tillman School of Business (TSB) at the University of Mount Olive invites applications for contracted allied faculty positions teaching in multiple areas of the TSB, two to six classes per year.

The individuals hired for these positions shall have qualifications related to (and an interest in) one of the TSB undergraduate or graduate level programs to include; Accounting, Agribusiness, Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing and the Management of Computer Information Systems.

Teaching assignments will typically include evening classes at one or more of the regional campuses across eastern North Carolina or online relying on Moodle as the LMS. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of courses and advising.

The University of Mount Olive employs Full-time Faculty, primarily based at the main campus at Mount Olive, Allied Faculty based across the region, and Adjunct Faculty who teach individual courses on an as needed basis, also located across the region. Allied faculty are contracted for services on an annual basis with a defined course load and other duties as assigned depending on the needs of the school and the availability/capability of the faculty. Allied faculty are considered members of the faculty and can pursue promotion in rank based on the guidelines found in the faculty handbook.

The anticipated start date is August 2016 or January 2017.

  • Terminal degree in a related field is preferred 
  • Master's degree in a related field will be considered with current enrollment and demonstrated progress to complete a terminal degree

Biology

Psychology

Reference/Extended Services Librarian

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a Reference/Extended Services Librarian.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as specific reference contact and provider for distance and e-learning students and faculty​
  • Provide in-person, email, and virtual reference services to a diversified user group (including off-site and e-learning users) including suggestions for search strategies and guidance in the use of electronic, web-based, and print resources ​Provide instruction and assistance with advanced searching techniques in the use of specific information retrieval systems
  • Develop and evaluate library resources both print and non-print, for the adequacy and effectiveness of the overall reference program and contribute to the development and evaluation of other subject collections
  • Prepare new and update current library bibliographic aids (general and specific course-related) and brochures concerning library services and use

Responsibilities Include:

  • Recruiting prospective students through college events, individual and group information meetings with businesses, medical facilities, professional organizations, childcare centers, etc.

Academic Evaluation Coordinator (Traditional)

The University of Mount Olive has an opening for an Academic Evaluation Coordinator for traditional students.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluates transcripts from Mount Olive and Goldsboro locations
  • Prepares and distributes curriculum evaluation sheets including those required for NCAA eligibility
  • Update transcripts to college database 
  • Provide data to student records specialists
  • Advises students about transfer work
  • Certifies candidates for graduation

Manager of Admissions Operations

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a Manager of Admissions Operations. This is a fulltime position which handles the operations of the traditional admissions office to include physical and information systems services and resources.  The MAO oversees the admissions information system, and the information being stored in and communicated from it. The MAO collaborates with the Director of Admissions and other leaders in the development, updates and maintenance of admissions information so that the reporting and technology needs of the admissions team are satisfied. The MAO reports to the director of Admissions and supervises clerical and student workers.

Qualifications include:

A minimum Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.  Must have demonstrated analytical, customer service and teamwork abilities; experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint. Student Accounts Coordinator

The University of Mount Olive at Mount Olive – Business Office has an immediate opening for a Student Accounts Coordinator.

 Responsibilities include:

  •  Working closely with the Director of Student Accounts
  • Serves as the primary person to greet walk-ins, answer incoming phone calls for the Business Office  
  • Directs those calls to the proper person or respond to the caller as applicable 
  • Handle collection efforts for students no longer enrolled and those with collection agencies
  • Back up for the Cash Report
  • Back up for the Student Accounts Manager, Director of Student Accounts, and other counselors at the locations
  • Issue refunds, account reviews, place stops, and contact those students for the MBA, Online Programs, and Seymour Johnson students

Director of Jacksonville location

The University of Mount Olive is currently seeking an experienced Director for our Jacksonville location.  The successful candidate will have prior experience implementing operational strategy and budget management at the college level with a focus on creativity and innovation to develop new and unique ways to improve operations and opportunities for the location. The Director will assume responsibility for coordinating support and administrative services for location students and functional oversight of the facility operations. These include, but are not limited to: recruitment and enrollment, academic advising, financial aid, and student accounts. The Director will also work closely with academic department chairs and deans to create academic schedules and program offerings. The Director will supervise administrative staff by providing direction, input, and feedback and liaise with other managers to ensure effective and efficient program delivery. The Director will work collaboratively with the marketing and communication department to deliver print and electronic marketing materials that enhance the reputation and effectiveness of the college. In addition, the Director will work collaboratively to build strong relationships and partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and civic groups.  The Director of the New Bern location will work closely with all functional department leaders and will report to the Dean of Extended Education.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree and successful experience leading a complex unit. Must possess excellent organizational skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work productively with all members of the college and the local community. 3-5 years of direct experience is preferred.

Financial Aid Counselor

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a Financial Aid Counselor. This position reports to the director of financial aid. Financial Aid Counselors are members of the enrollment team and must be able to work with admissions representatives, business office personnel and the registrar's office in order to maximize enrollment. Financial Aid Counselors must be knowledgeable of federal, state and institutional aid regulations and apply them to each individual student's eligibility. These employees assist current and prospective students with filing their free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) and completion of loan applications, complete verification audits, and meet often with students to help them with other financial concerns.

Controller

The University of Mount Olive is currently seeking a Controller, an administrative position reporting to the Vice President for Finance and Administration. The primary responsibilities of the position are: accounting and financial reporting functions of the University; day to day oversight of the Accounting Office; and assisting the University with treasury functions, budgeting, and financial planning and analysis.

Responsibilities include:

Responsible for Accounting staff and operations including accounting, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, taxes, purchasing support, and sponsored research. Development, implementation and improvement of financial policies, procedures and internal controls to protect University’s assets and to ensure proper use of the University’s financial resources. Provide leadership in further development of newly installed financial accounting software. Financial reporting including the annual audit. Oversee the accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions and dissemination of financial information for use throughout the University. Compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, audit requirements, and donor gift restrictions. Oversee preparation of 990 and 990-T tax returns. Manage endowment accounting and assist the Investment Office with oversight of University’s endowment funds. Manage treasury functions including compliance with debt covenants, relationships with external financial institutions. Provide analytical support and assist senior management and all segments of the community with accounting information.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or a related field required. Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and financial management in a higher education or not-for-profit setting, preferably in a small University environment. CPA strongly preferred. Strong database and spreadsheet proficiency and broad experience with financial and accounting software packages, preferably PowerCampus and Great Plains Demonstrated knowledge of FASB and financial statement preparation, payroll and payroll taxes, and other tax issues in higher education. Experience with reporting for endowments and alternative investments. Experience and interest in developing staff. Position requires integrity and sound judgment, excellent supervisory, communications and presentation skills, along with the ability to work with a wide range of co-workers in a shared decision-making environment. Writing Center Coordinator

University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a full – time Writing Center Coordinator.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Writing Center
  • Tutor students at the Mount Olive location as a Writing Coach
  • Supervise and mentor peer Writing Coaches at all UMO locations
  • Assist with training Writing Coaches at all UMO locations
  • Assist with training peer Writing Coaches as online writing tutors
  • Handle correspondence (email, telephone, mail) of the Center
  • Coordinate data collection on Center’s services
  • Assist Writing Center Director with program assessment
  • Assist in delivering student-focused workshops in the Center
  • Assist in delivering student-focused workshops in classrooms or in conjunction with the Supplemental Instruction program
  • Act as a campus liaison for the Center, including participating in campus events as a Writing Center representative
  • Provide additional support for the Writing Center Director as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree with experience required. Bus Driver
