Capital Campaign at University of Mount Olive

Why Give    Ways to Give

Give Now    Donor Recognition

We are in a time of extraordinary change in higher education and in the world. Economic, social and technological challenges require women and men to be equally prepared and participating members in our society. We need their talents, their innovations, and their desires to address the complex problems that we face. We want to ensure that the University of Mount Olive, which has long served distinctively on the educational frontier, will continue to serve well into the future.

This is why we are seeking to raise $20 million over five years — to help more students realize the dream of a college education, and to continue our promise of transforming education and transforming lives for generations to come.

Campaign Priorities

Enhancing Henderson and Residential Housing ($8,000,000)

Our entire campus must reflect our quality, student-focused education. Contemporary facilities that enhance the living and learning experience will make University of Mount Olive the first choice of more students. Four of our current residence halls and the Henderson Building were constructed in the 1960s. These buildings, though sturdy in structure, need to mirror the needs and expectations of today’s students and standards. Enhancements to these five buildings will aim to improve the individual quality of life for students.

Expanding and Enhancing Rodgers Chapel ($3,000,000)

Once completed, the Chapel expansion will form a pivotal campus landmark, enhancing student life while serving as a powerful symbol of the University of Mount Olive’s identity. The Chapel expansion will further denote the literal and figurative cornerstone of the campus community.

Creating a Cultural Arts Center ($3,000,000)

Our dream for the future includes an exciting project to enhance and expand our excellent fine arts education program, which could bring a rich opportunity for cultural arts to the downtown area of Mount Olive. The cultural arts center will transform our downtown and touch the lives of people throughout the area.

Expanding and Preserving Our Athletics Programs ($3,000,000)

Intercollegiate athletics at the University of Mount Olive is all about performance and character — both on and off the field. And great performances are in part inspired by the character of the surroundings in which they take place. Our new athletic facility will be an important step toward fulfilling our commitment to student-focused education. The facility will serve our varsity track and field team, will be used by our soccer, lacrosse, softball and baseball teams, and will also be beneficial for campus and general community use.

Landscaping to Enhance the Academic Environment ($1,000,000)

The University of Mount Olive is a beautiful campus; there are new buildings, old buildings, trees, shrubs, fountains and more. All of these things contribute to making our campus visually pleasing. These things don’t just happen. It takes a lot of work, planning, and financial resources. We have a dream of adding to the existing outdoor beauty of our campus by adding raised beds of flowers for seasonal color, incorporating outdoor seating areas, installing special lighting, repairing sidewalks and adding more walkways.

Increasing the Annual Fund ($2,000,000)

An important goal of the Realizing the Dream Campaign is to establish a financial assistance fund. This will support programs for worthy students, faculty salaries and professional development, and ongoing campus enhancements. Providing vital support to the many deserving but economically disadvantaged students throughout Eastern North Carolina enriches families, communities, and our region’s economy — as well as the students themselves. It is imperative we maintain our high-quality education while being financially accessible to those who want a classic liberal arts or professional studies degree.

About the Campaign

The University of Mount Olive has changed over the years and will continue to evolve to meet the needs of students and contribute to the quality of life of our community. But our goal of helping students realize their dreams and their full potential — intellectually, physically, emotionally and spiritually — has never changed.

Our Realizing the Dream Campaign is a bold and ambitious effort to ensure a strong destiny for this college. With a campaign goal of $20 million, we are raising funds to expand and enhance our facilities, increase our scholarship program, strengthen our ability to serve our students and the region, and create a culturally vibrant community. Your generosity and participation will validate for the rest of the community the worthiness of our plans and goals. Most importantly, your gift will have a significant and positive impact on our students now and those who follow in years to come.

Won’t you help us lay the foundation that will have an indelible, lasting impact on future generations?
