Opportunities Within the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences
Biology is one of the fastest growing majors among students at University of Mount Olive, which is due in no small part to exciting research opportunities, new facilities and excellent faculty. Biology and Physical Science majors have the opportunity to work closely with their professors on independent research projects. Plus, University of Mount Olive’s financial investment, along with funding from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center has allowed the establishment of technologically advanced lab facilities with the necessary tools and equipment to conduct quality faculty mentored student research.
There are a wide variety of opportunities for students to get involved when they are a Biology or Physical Science student at University of Mount Olive. Students can get involved in Sigma Zeta Chapter of Beta Beta Beta, Henderson Science Club, lab assistantships and more! There are also science scholarships that interested students can apply to, including the Biological and Physical Sciences Scholarship and the Progress Energy Scholarship.
