Faculty Positions:

Psychology

The Psychology Department at the University of Mount Olive seeks applicants for a full time faculty position in Psychology beginning Fall of 2014.  The ideal candidate will hold a terminal degree in Psychology; those specializing in social and/or neuropsychology will be given special consideration. This person will be expected to teach courses in introduction to psychology, research methods and statistics, as well as courses in his/her area of specialty and should have an interest in mentoring undergraduate research projects. Candidates who are ABD will be considered at the time of application but all requirements for the Ph.D. must be completed by August 1, 2014.

 

Art/Graphic Design

The Department of Art invites applications for a full-time faculty position in graphic design or a closely related field for August 2014. . The successful candidate should possess a doctorate or terminal master's degree in graphic design (or closely related field), and professional design experience is preferred. A submitted portfolio is required, and classroom teaching experience is also expected. In addition to the graphic design qualifications, the ability to teach in other art areas is desirable, but not required. Areas of expertise should include design foundations and software from the Adobe Creative Suite, especially, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign for the Macintosh platform. Additional responsibilities would include student advisement, supervision of student interns, recruitment, as well as service to the college, the community, and the profession.

Human Resource Management

The Division of Management Systems seeks applicants for a faculty position in Human Resource Management starting in fall 2014. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in a closely related field from an accredited AACSB/ACBSP institution. The successful candidate will have evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals; a record of excellence in teaching; PHR/SPHR/GPHR certification; and excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Healthcare Management

The Division of Management Services seeks applicants for a faculty position in Healthcare Management starting in fall 2013. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in any area of health care, AUPHA/CAHME accredited institution graduates are highly preferred. The successful candidate will have evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals; a record of teaching and research in field; and excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

International Business

Library Technical Assistant

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a full-time Library Technical Assistant.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides basic assistance to patrons including selection and location of appropriated resources, computer assistance and circulation duties
  • Provides acquisition services:
  • ordering and receiving new materials
  • Works with collections staff to determine most appropriate acquisition sources
  • Checks shipments to insure correct quantity, material and quality
  • Maintains departmental or area records
  • Provides serials collections services:
  • Orders and prepares library serial subscriptions
  • Checks in serials and reports missing issues
  • Updates online systems and print reports to reflect serials holdings, locations and  dentity
  • Monitors serial subscription status and resolves issues with vendors as needed
  • Provides limited technical support services to library users
  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and Publisher
  • Maintains and updates student records in the system
  • Prepares materials for library website
  • Maintains individual local databases.  Ex. Standing Orders, FWB Name Index, etc.
  • Provides general administrative duties

  • Takes, screens and places telephone calls and acts as receptionist as needed
  • Prepares correspondence including some multiple mailings

Evening and Weekend Library Supervisor

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a  full -time Evening and Weekend Library Supervisor.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the reference desk and supervise the library activities during the night and weekend hours. To be alert for behavioral issues, noise control and for damage to facilities, furniture and equipment
  • In collaboration with Campus Safety, maintain a safe and secure environment for users and staff in the library and help assure library resources are maintained and secure
  • Provides basic patron assistance
  • Be familiar with library resources and services and be able to provide general reference service, technology assistance and bibliographic instruction to University of Mount Olive students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone, by e-mail and online
  • Checks in and out library materials, inspect materials for damage, verifies due date and collects fines and fees and maintains patron information
  • Sorts materials and prepare for re-shelving
  • Shelves books and other materials
  • Helps keep statistics on library use
  •  Processes new books
  • Miscellaneous duties include:
  • Filing
  • Sorting
  • Typing bibliographic lists
  • Clip newspapers
  • Assists Curator with maintaining with the special collections. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Library Services

Staff & Administrative Positions

Financial Counselor

The  University of Mount Olive at New Bern  is currently seeking a Financial Counselor who will be responsible for counseling and advising students on Financial Aid (FA) and student account matters. This candidate will act as the primary contact for all student financial inquiries and liaison to financial aid and student accounts department. This individual will also be charged with VA compliance for applicable students.  He/She must be proficient in MS-Outlook, Word, Access and Excel, along with having the ability and willingness to quickly learn and properly use complex relational databases in routine performance of daily job functions. Candidates should have at least a Bachelor’s Degree, along with at least 4 years’ experience working with adults, preferably in adult education, training, non-profit fundraising, sales, customer support, marketing, public relations, or related area.

Responsibilities include:

  • Counsel and advise students on issues relative to Financial Aid (FA) and Veterans Affairs Educational Benefits
  • Complete Consortium Agreement Requests
  • Assist students with entrance/exit counseling as well as MPNs
  • Represent the Office of FA at various school-related events (i.e. Open House, Orientations, etc.).
  • Coordinates with FA Technicians to answer student questions and determine processing timelines.
  • Views financial aid packages, required documents, and other information in the FA system to assist students in the FA process.
  • Collects and forwards any submitted Financial Aid documents to the Mount Olive College (MOC) FA office (using the approved method(s)) assure timely processing.
  • Ensures compliance with institutional, veteran affairs (VA), federal and state policies and regulations.
  • Prepare and review student financial accounts including charges, payments and collections, error detection and correction, and authorizing through College policies cancellation of charges.
  • Respond to billing inquiries through explanation of applicable college policies, federal and state laws.
  • Determine when to place or release financial holds on student transcripts and registration.
  • Communicate with Director of Student Accounts regarding cancellation of charges or exceptions to establish policies with realization of impact of decision on future collection policies; as directed by supervisor discuss complicated situations with supervisor and offer ideas for resolution.
  • Maintain diligence and consistency in collection of student and non-student debts, and administer Refund Policy to student and employee withdrawal from classes.
  • Maintain records of VA students and make all records available for inspection.

Manager of Admissions Operations

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a Manager of Admissions Operations. This is a fulltime position which handles the operations of the traditional admissions office to include physical and information systems services and resources.  The MAO oversees the admissions information system, and the information being stored in and communicated from it. The MAO collaborates with the Director of Admissions and other leaders in the development, updates and maintenance of admissions information so that the reporting and technology needs of the admissions team are satisfied. The MAO reports to the director of Admissions and supervises clerical and student workers.

Qualifications include: Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.  Must have demonstrated analytical, customer service and teamwork abilities; experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint. Experience as an office supervisor or related administrative management and the ability to use Microsoft Office Excel to Pivot Table format preferred.

Online Program Support Coordinator

The University of Mount Olive is currently seeking an Online Program Support Coordinator to provide administrative assistance for students who are enrolled in one of the UMO online programs.  This position will work with students from matriculation through graduation and will be responsible for assisting students in the following areas: admissions, providing resources for financial aid, academic advising, and supporting students with resources and training for the virtual community, among other duties. This position will be located at the Mount Olive location in Mount Olive, NC.

This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately using all modes of communication (virtual, phone, email, etc.), and the ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community, and the public.

Education or training and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Two years of professional work experience preferably in education, training, customer support, public relations or related area
  • Two years of experience using technology as a data management and communication medium
  • Preferred experience with virtual learning platforms

Financial Aid Counselor

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a Financial Aid Counselor. This position reports to the director of financial aid. Financial Aid Counselors are members of the enrollment team and must be able to work with admissions representatives, business office personnel and the registrar's office in order to maximize enrollment.  Financial Aid Counselors must be knowledgeable of federal, state and institutional aid regulations and apply them to each individual student's eligibility. These employees assist current and prospective students with filing their free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) and completion of loan applications, complete verification audits, and meet often with students to help them with other financial concerns.

The University of Mount Olive has an opening for a full-time Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach.  Responsibilities include: assist with coaching team in competitions and practices, conditioning and training of team, recruiting qualified student-athletes, and monitoring academic progress of student-athletes.
