Faculty Positions:

Education

The Department of Education is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position for August, 2014.  A doctorate in Education is preferred with a special education background, classroom experience at the elementary level and administrative experience in a variety of positions.  The candidate will teach courses within the education program, supervise student interns, advise students, participate in curriculum assessment/revision, and will provide services to the college, the community, and the profession.

 

Agriculture Education (Plant Sciences)

The Department of Education invites applications for a full-time faculty position to teach in the agriculture program beginning in Fall 2014. A doctorate with a specialization in the plant sciences is preferred.   Candidate will teach courses in the plant sciences and related fields and will be required to manage the school’s greenhouse and garden lab facilities.  Additional responsibilities for the successful candidate include student advisement, curriculum assessment and revision, as well as service to the college, the community, and the profession.

 

Art/Graphic Design

The Department of Art invites applications for a full-time faculty position in graphic design or a closely related field for August 2014. . The successful candidate should possess a doctorate or terminal master's degree in graphic design (or closely related field), and professional design experience is preferred. A submitted portfolio is required, and classroom teaching experience is also expected. In addition to the graphic design qualifications, the ability to teach in other art areas is desirable, but not required. Areas of expertise should include design foundations and software from the Adobe Creative Suite, especially, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign for the Macintosh platform. Additional responsibilities would include student advisement, supervision of student interns, recruitment, as well as service to the college, the community, and the profession.

 

 Music

The Department of Music invites applications for a full-time faculty position to teach music theory and aural skills. A doctorate in music theory, composition, piano or organ is required.  Interdisciplinary teaching experience would be highly recommended.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach other music courses as needed as well as conduct classes/lessons in piano and organ.  Additional duties would include student advisement, curriculum assessment and revision, as well as service to the college, the community, and the profession.

Human Resource Management

The Division of Management Systems seeks applicants for a faculty position in Human Resource Management starting in fall 2014. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in a closely related field from an accredited AACSB/ACBSP institution. The successful candidate will have evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals; a record of excellence in teaching; PHR/SPHR/GPHR certification; and excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Healthcare Management

The Division of Management Services seeks applicants for a faculty position in Healthcare Management starting in fall 2013. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in any area of health care, AUPHA/CAHME accredited institution graduates are highly preferred. The successful candidate will have evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals; a record of teaching and research in field; and excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

International Business

Staff & Administrative Positions

Director of Student Activities-Housing Coordinator

The Director of Student Activities is a full time, twelve month live-in position that will serve as the director for campus programming. The director will be responsible for developing a comprehensive plan for campus life programming integrating academic, athletic and the other co-curricular areas. The professional in this position will continue a tradition of planning a robust student activity schedule, manage the student activity fund and supervise the campus activity board (CAB) that has more than 50 student members. The university has worked hard to invest resources in this area on campus and we have experienced great program planning initiatives with high levels of student participation. Our student programming board has received regional recognition and our outgoing director was recognized on the national level with new professional of the year honors. University of Mount Olive is committed to continuing this high level of commitment to student activity programming on campus.

In addition to the student activities director responsibilities, this professional will oversee a residential area of 3 residence halls (approximately 200 students) and supervise 5 to 8 resident assistants. Responsibilities will include staff training, conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and the implementation of residence hall programming designed to complement the goals of the residence life program and mission of the University. This live in position will require flexible hours, a team building attitude and a sincere desire to work with students in a private liberal arts college environment. 
 
Master’s degree required. Supervisory experience and extensive experience in student activity programming, residential living, either as a graduate student or full time employee are required. Experience with student activity planning, club and organization advising, residence life management, RA selection, and supervision of students is preferred.

Academic Evaluation Coordinator (NonTrad)

University of Mount Olive at the Mount Olive location has an immediately opening for an Academic Evaluation Coordinator for non-traditional students.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluates transcripts from all Non-Trad locations.
  • Prepares and distributes curriculum evaluation sheets.
  • Update transcripts to college database.
  • Provide data to student records specialists.
  • Advises students about transfer work.
  • Certifies candidates for graduation.
  • Assists in the certification of veterans qualifying for veteran’s benefits.
  • Assists in the processing of student information including grades, transcripts, biographical information, student schedules drop/add, master class schedules, and financial information grades, advisor/advisee packets and financial information.
  • Coordinate with the Registrar and Data Management in preparation of selected reports: Registration reports, retention study, student’s right to know, Dean’s and President’s lists, Probation Exclusive report, billing reports, work load report, master class schedule, and class/grade rosters.

Bus Driver

University of Mount Olive is searching for a part-time bus driver to drive athletic teams and singing groups in a 29-passenger bus.
